Desperate; Does this sound like a thyroid problem

by Nats25, Nov 09, 2009 01:20PM
I have had every blood test none to man done and they all come back "normal." I have seen an endocrinologist and she said that my results were normal , however, I have spoken to people with hypothroid problems that tell me they think that is what is wrong with me and that sometimes it doesn't show up in tests. I have thinning hair, adult acne that won't go away, I take meds for depression, I run a temp. that usually isn't higher than 97.7, I start feeling sick if I get cold for too long (which happens easily), I frequently feel like i'm running fever but I'm not (I feel weak, sometimes a little achy, tired), I get tired very easily, have brain fog, have trouble with staying regular when it comes to bowel movements,I have allergies, I get pain in my knees on and off, frequent headaches, hands and feet stay cold, etc. I don't know what else to do. I don't have insurance so that makes it even harder. I am a full time student and this is really interfering with school and every other aspect of my life. I feel like i'm going crazy b/c there is "nothing wrong with me" however I feel bad more than I feel good. Does this sound like hypothyroid and if it is, how do i find a dr. that will treat the symptoms and not just the test results?
Thank you.

I am only a medical assistant, and I am sure Dr.Lupho will eventually get on here and answer your questions. Are you over weight  or have gained weight randomly? Do you have any visible goiters?  Is your menstrual cycle irregular? Have your eyes gotten bigger? these are other questions they normally ask. I have hyperthyroid/Graves Disease and also have symptoms of hypothyroid.

For two years I told my primary care physician and the doctor I work for ( an Endocronoligst ) about certain symptoms that were ignored for almost 2 years.. I was just diagnosed officially in August of this year. Sometimes, the symptoms have to get a little worse (in my case) before someone actually said ..Oh you have a goiter on your neck.

Thyroid is a tricky thing.. some people can kill off their thyroid and it goes to a normal level on it's on.. others have to have medication for the rest of their life. You only can go by what you are told by a professionsal. You stressing over it , can also lead to serverer thyroid symptoms
