Does Levothyroxine have me Wired?

I was prescribed Levothyroxine about a week ago.  Almost off the bat I noticed that I felt far less fatigued than have felt in a long time.  I have been battling chronic and severe fatigue/tiredness for the past 2 years and have been taking prescription amphetamines for more than a year.

The only thing is that I've noticed that it takes a bit longer for me to fall asleep.  Whereas before I would literally be out the second my head hit the pillow, I now lie in bed from anywhere between 5 and 30 minutes before I fall asleep.  I only slept about four hours last night.  And although I feel tired I don't feel oppressively so.

I am also 100 times more focused at work and do not experience a severe afternoon slump in energy.

Has anyone else had this experience?

I'm on Levoxyl, and yes I did notice that I wasn't sleeping as much.  I didn't have a problem falling asleep, but woke up at least an hour before my alarm every day (and couldn't go back to sleep).  I blamed it on the time change, but I think it was the meds.  Now that I've been on it for a couple of months, it seems to have leveled out and I'm sleeping just fine.  I'm LOVING the newfound energy though, and I can stay awake past 8PM now!!!

I am on a small dose of the same (I belive its only 25 mcg.) and can say I feel about like you.  My thyroid is enlarged but no nodules and bloodwork within normal limits.  I have been on the meds about 2 weeks and definitely feel better with the symptoms I was having, particularly the fatigue and the fuzzy thinking.

I've been on Levothroxine 100 mcg. for about a month and have not seen any changes in my metabolism except for still being tired. your symptoms could  be tied to something else going on.
