Does Synthroid wash out during Dialysis Treatment?

by porkchoptx, Jan 20, 2009 11:38PM
My mother takes Synthroid and has to do kidney dialysis 3 times a week.  Before she started dialysis she always took synthroid about 7am on an empty stomach and then waited an hour before she ate.

She continued this pill schedule once she started dialysis treatments.  Here treatments are at 10:00 am.  She noticed her hair started thinning a little and is concerned that the synthroid is washing out during dialysis.

Thinking this is the problem she has been taking the pill on an empty stomach in the afternoons after dialysis.

Does synthroid wash out during dialysis?  If not, I guess she goes back to the normal morning pill schedule.  If so, is the afternoon schedule ok?  Instructions say to take it in the morning.

Thank you!
