Hi there. Just read through the posts. I know this is a year old post, things change. Hope you are in better health. ,if i may the add, exercise in the mix there. You could also look at herbs that can increase energy, such as Moringa and spirulina. You would also benefit from a full body detox.
Best wishes :)
stopped taking synthroid mid-last year on my own( no prescribed meds) and changed my food choices - no more junk and/or fast food, no gluten, no dairy, no meat. I now eat fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, hummus, beans -plant based food choices.
I am obese 210 lbs and tired most of the time . I have daily bowel movement - so I am not constipated ?no other hypo symptoms, hair and nails are fine. NO pain. Im scheduled to have a colonoscopy later this month.
i have only been diagnosed as hypothyroid NOT hashimotos ????
Lab tests from a year ago, are not valid now, because too many things may have changed. You FT4, at that time, was good, but FT3 is the hormone the cells actually use, so without that, we don't really know where you were. More important, is where you are now, and with a TSH of 13.46, I'd say your FT levels might be pretty low.
Are you still on synthroid? What dosage?
Do you know if you have Hashimoto's?
What, if any, symptoms do you have?
thanx for your reply ! this blood test only tested for TSH - when i go to my endo appt later this month - will make sure to get tested for free T3 and Free T4.
Last year in April 2012 i was tested for T4,free and my results were 1.27 and the reference range for this lab was 0.82-1.77.
I
I was on synthroid at time of the 2012 blood test. What do you think ????
thanx for your valuable help
No, they will not help a sluggish thyroid. Kelp is a sea plant, and as such contains iodine, which is contraindicated in those with Hashimoto's, which is the number 1 cause of hypothyroidism in the developed world. If your thyroid has been damaged by Hashimoto's, no amount of supplements will bring it back and make it start producing hormones again.
Was TSH the only thing you had tested? No Free T3 or Free T4? TSH is a pituitary hormone and is totally inadequate to diagnose/treat a thyroid condition, but with yours 1t 13.46, you surely need to be on thyroid replacement hormones.
If you have results for FT3 and FT4, please post them and be sure to include reference ranges, which vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report.
