Does this sound like a thyroid problem?

Recently I have been gaining a whole lot of weight, that is not normal for me because I have always been on the slim side. I do not think its because of eating because I havent been eating any more than I ever did. Does this sound like a thyroid problem to you? I've already had thyroid tests run and they came back normal. Could I still have a thyroid problem and it not be showing???

i have hypothyroid symptoms also.  weight gain, no matter how many calories i eat or don't eat.  i have also always been on the thin side and for the past year I have been 30 pounds over my normal weight.  i am always tired constantly falling asleep on the couch, soc had me go for sleep study thinking i had sleep apnea but i don't.  i am always sweating, especially while i sleep i wake up soaked.  it is not time for menopause for me yet.  i read that a lot of women go to the doc thinking they are going thru the "change" but it is their thyroid.  my TSH is at .026 but Dec 07 it was 2.118.  my endo still will not put me on meds.  i am about to give up.  no matter how much i exercise the wieght will not come off.  i haven't gained weight since the original 30 back in 07.  i tell him that, i haven't gained weight but i haven't lost weight.  he likes to say i can not change the laws of physics, if i eat fewer calories i WILL lose weight but i have done that and the weight is still there.  i don't think chronic sinnunitus would cause weight gain.  my 14 yo is on Topamax and i hae read thru the info and weight gain was not on the list.  keep bugging your doc, keep having him check your labs.  as someone else said normal range is not normal range for everyone.  i wish more people, like the docs, would listen to that.

Yes I do have other symptoms of hypothyroidism, I have read that some of the symptoms include dry skin and dry hair, and I have those two symptoms also. I have been taking Topamax for migrain Headaches do you think that it could be making me gain weight? Also very recently I had Chronic sinunitus do think that could have caused me to gain weight?

While you're assembling your numbers, you might think about other things that might cause the weight gain...other medications, recent illnesses, change in physical activity, age, etc.  Also, do you have other symptoms of hypothyroidism?  The list of possible symptoms is about as long as your arm, so one symptom in isolation is fairly inconclusive.

The thyroid tests TSH, Free 3, and 4. I'm not sure what the numbers were though. I'll get the actual numbers from my doctor when I go back to her on friday and I will let you know. But is there any better tests to make for certain that might or might not have a thyroid problem?

What thyroid tests were run and what were the actual numbers and their reference ranges?  We have learned on this forum never to just accept "normal".  Let's look at the actual results.
