Dosing of Armour Thyroid

I have recently been diagnosed with subclinical hypo. My recent labwork results included TSH of 2.63, T4 of 7.4 and T3 of 110. My symptons of chronic constipation and lack of period (for almost 9 months) made my doctor feel comfortable that I have a thyroid problem. Not to mention that over the past yr I've had tests with TSH as high as 5.2 and T3 as low as 73.

He put me on 60mg of Armour Thyroid. After being on it for almost 2 weeks, I started getting faster heart beats substantial enough that it kept me up at night. Is 60mg of Armour too much for me?

Also with my levels where they are does it matter if I'm on Armour or Synthroid?

Thanks

When posting labs please include ranges by the lab- they vary.

T4 med, synthroid is the starter med. Why did the doc not start you there?

If you really dessicated like Armour, then its a blessing. But if you dont need any more T3 in you it can be too much for your body.

Many fall for the 'dessicated is natural' bandwagon. Hogwash. After all the processing its not any more natural than aspirin. The main ingredient in aspirin is white willow bark. After the processing, its not really natural anymore is it?.

You cant start any dessicated pig thyroid med at full dose. Start low , half, work up 15 mg per week to avoid hyperness.

I take dessicated, because I have to, it not a choice for many of us. I wish synthroid worked for me- I'd take it again in a heartbeat. The minimal med that works for you is the one you should be on.
