Anitbodies are what they check when looking for an autoimmune disease such as graves or hashimotos.
Deb- wish I could answer your question- When doc found my hurthle cells I was sent to surgeon right away. I guess because I had a multinodular goiter that had an in crease in number of nodules & a nodule on one side that grew alot in the year since my last ultrasounmd- I had tons of symptoms and problems associated with it - they sent me for TT. I personally didn't want to wait- i thought i was going to die being so sick for soooooo long.
I don't think 3 mos is a long time to wait for another ultrasound- but ultimately it's up to you. You could always go for a 3rd opinion if your insurance wil allow.
Sorry I can't be more helpful. Let us know what you decide & how you progress with your treatment.
God Bless-

This was an ultra sound guided cyst and they took 3 samples from it.
What is TPO and TG antibodies??? I know my TSH was elevated and they increased my levoxyl
dosage - I have been Hypo for several years and my dose was always OK till now.
Hurtle cells are quite often found in nodules that contain a degenerating cyst. If your nodule is a complex nodule (solid and cystic) then they probably took the samples from the liquid area of the cyst part. I had a similar biopsy report from my first FNA. For your next FNA, make sure they do an ultrasound-guided one so as to make sure they're actually getting nodule tissue, rather than the liquid from the cyst.
Btw, what are your antibodies levels like? Have they been tested? If not, then I suggest getting that done. It's just a simple blood test. Make sure they run both TPO and Tg antibodies.
Please keep us posted. :)
One nodule on the right side - complex - I think 4x9 mm - size of a dime
left side is multiple nodules, but they didnt even biopsy those
Do you only have 1 nodule? Is the 4x9 in centimeters?
