Disagree... I've fasted several times over 3 decades from 7 to 30 days. I've lost a total of 70 pounds and have kept it off for over 10 years. It also cleaned out my arteries and healed a digestive issue I struggled with until after the first fast. Most people blow the weight loss in the "breaking" of the fast, which can indeed lead to weight gain. But a little discipline the first week or two afterwards solves that problem. Read: Fasting Can Save Your Life by Shelton before you dis fasts again. Best book ever written about it.
In some cases raise in TSH causes rapid heartbeat
Just FYI, fasting will not help you lose weight- in the long run you will actually gain because it slows your metabolism so much. When you have hypo your metabolism is already slow so this just makes it worse. You may lose in the beginning-but it will not last and it is very unhealthy for your body. I am hypo and the best weight loss strategy for me has been wieght watchers.
People who are hyperthyroid tend to have palpitations- so you may want to get your TSH checked and see if you are on too much thryoid replacement. This would cause the weight loss and irregular heart rate.
Thanks, Dawnx
I am not hyper and I think it's because my TSH was higher than it has been even though it was 2 and not considered out of the normal range This also happened last Memorial Day (irregular heartbeats) though I was not fasting but my TSH was 8 very high for me. I feel best when it is .3. I am anxious to see what the cardiologist says. Today so far has been the best day in 2 and 1/2 weeks. I realize now that fasting is not the best for people with Thyroid...small balanced meals seems to be the way to go. Wish I had thought of that. It was stupid of me. One time about 6 years ago I went on a strick Adkins Diet program and had palpitations and ended in the emgency room. Thanks for your input. It's so good to read and get feeback from others.
Have a good day!

There could be various causes, depends upon the degree of hypo, how well your organs are doing overall on the thyroid meds.
People who weigh less sometimes need less TH, maybe you have gone a little hyper check with your cardiologists, see if he can run tests or whether you have to go back to your endo.
Also people with hypo are at risk of heart conditions and fasting might put extra strain, personally I don't think fasting for hypos is a good idea but some Dr I googled seemed to think it was excellent, I did not look for his resources to back up his theories though so you never know.
lotsa luv
