Fish oil

I went to the eye doctor last week.....told them I wanted an exam due to Graves. Really I'm just getting old and need glasses but do have Graves. I don't have eye insurance, so I thought the Graves excuse might get past them.

Anyway, he told me to to start taking Omega-3 complex. He was very clear about the "complex" part. He said that it reduces inflamation and that is what the whole Graves eye problem is about. Side benefits are supposed to be help with joint pain too. He did take some measurements so we can track any bulging.

I've only been on it a week, so nothing to report other than giving me gas. Anybody have any experience with fish pills?

Mom's good old Castor Oil is another good source and anything that tastes like that just has to be helping you.

My eyes are fine, with all the tests they could possibly charge for!

I do need glasses though. Did Steven Segal ever wear glasses?

I agree on the flaxseed. Speak to your doctor about that. Flax is a natural anti inflammatory and should help somewhat. It's all about the Grave's and what where it will effect you. I never developed any Graves TED so I am of little help here. HAve you had a pressure test of the eye to determine if you have anything going on?

I have graves and thyroid eye diease and flaxseed oil works better for me than fish oil. I take it everyday and it seems to help, also staying hydrated is really important. And if I am good not drinking helps...but sometimes you just need the wine. :)

I'm hyper.  No one told me to take Fish Oil, but have taken it for several years.  It's a great antioxident.  I take Glucosamine Chondroitin to keep from getting joint pain.  It's an enzyme.  I'm a court reporter and picked this up in several depositions of orthopedic surgeons recommending it for their patients.  So, can't tell you too much more.  Graves was mentioned with me, also, but my eyes appear to be fine.  good luck.

I use Nordic Naturals or Trader Joe's brands and have no problems with them. they are molecularly distilled to remove any heavy metals.

If the complex means omega 3-6-9. stay away. Our diets our usually heavy on the omega 6's and low on the omega-3's. Taking Omega 3 is enough to set the balance straight.

Omega 3's are a great supplement and can help inflammation, cholesterol, heart disease and in high enough doses- mood.

Interesting. If it would work, I would put up with the gas. LOL.
