Unbelievable, it wasn't even the doctor that answered my e-mail, it was one of his flunkies and she said she couldn't help me. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT! She isn't even a doctor and probably would have gotten into trouble had the author known. THIS PISSES ME OFF. So here I am, back at square one.
I'm gonna try that doctor that gimel gave me, gonna call him now. Only problem is that he is really far away from me, so I faxed him a letter to make sure he does this kind of work, and will go out on a limb to test.
Ooops my psychic powers are on high today! LOL!
Glad you got a response from the doctor! I am not religious but do think sometimes that someone is looking after us when those 'coincidences' happen!
I have severe PTSD too. Been to all the good psychs etc, and have learned the hard way how to deal with my depression. But I do know that the bad days are real hard sometimes to get out of.
Let's hope that your email started off some great help for you!
Cheers!
I'm sorry, feeling sorry for myself. But, a MIRACLE has happened! See, there are still miracles!
I got so depressed today that I just didn't think I could continue on, even my friends think I'm faking this and it's just me eating too much! I actually got into a fight with a "so called" friend that told me they everyone gains a little weight when they age. I said, "yes they do, but they don't blow up like a BALLOON!"
See, I just feel like there is no one on my side, but let me tell you about what just happened...
I wrote to the doctor who wrote the book called, "Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms when my Lab Results Are Normal?" And I was really angry, because I told him that it seems like the only people that really get help are the rich ones and I wasn't disabled until all of this, and now I can't get a competent doctor!
This doctor actually wrote me back! He said that if I was going to use vengence, he wasn't going to help me!
I immediately apologized as he is absolutely right and I had no right to go off on him, he's just someone trying to help. I also told him that one of the doctors that wrote on his forward was here in Denver, and he wants cash up front and I find that absurd as many of the blood tests he was going to perform were covered!
This doctor said that the doctor that placed that forward on his book wasn't a good example of a caring physician, and that he really wasn't a physician for this kind of thing, he is a chiropractor.
This doctor (who is a Neurologist) is sending my e-mail to one of his colleague's here in Denver to take my case. (I was beginning to think that there WEREN'T any competent doctors here!)
I believe this was an intervention from God as I was feeling pretty bad and was having bad throughts. I don't know what you all believe, but I find it pretty miraculous that this doctor was actually on-line and answered my e-mail and responded!!!
Will let you all know, I am forever indebted and thank you for caring.
Redheadaussie, I know abou the clinical depression making everything worse, I am in an intense program called "trauma therapy" for severe complex PTSD, so I feel for you as I understand totally.
Actually, I was walking my dog when attacked by a dumped Pit who had been fought (had scars all over him) and he took out after my dog and I DID BREAK A LEG AND A SHOULDER IN TWO PLACES, and when I got home from the hospital, I DID BREAK MY REMOTE!!! hahahahahahahahaha (And I'M NOT KIDDING!)
Oh, thank heavens.........
Nope, not allowed. Today is MY day for all of your above mentioned horribleness. Besides I posted my gripe before you did, so nyah, nyah, nyah, I win! LOL.
Now say after me, "Today might be a bad, bad day, but I can share it with my MedHelp friends who are also in a bad, bad day, and together we can all be grumpy old fat blobs and no one will think the worse of us for it!"
Yes, this stupid disease stinks, No it never seems like it'll get any easier, and yes, we can all take turns lining up and thumping the living proverbials out of doctors. I am going first and when I do, I do not aim at stopping till after all my knuckles are broken!
BTW being hypo makes you depressed so it makes everything 10 times harder to deal with. you HAVE to remember that your body is being taken over, and it is not WHO you are. Man, I could write a book (hang on, I am writing a book! LOL) about how stupid thyroid disease seems to invade us and make us miserable.
Lately I have been thumping the living crud out of any softish thing that doesn't break. It really has helped me when I start feeling really depressed. I have clinical depression so being hypo only aggravates it.
Hang in there, it could be worse, you could break both your legs and the remote for the tv on the same day! (JUST KIDDING!)
Sorry, but we don't allow members to drop their membership so easily. If necessary we'll send Big Bubba to visit and get you back on track. LOL You've made lots of progress. You have found a good place for info and all the support you want. Don't stop now. We'll find a way to help somehow.
So here's a few questions for you. You mentioned a doctor appointment in early Dec. Was that the doctor that I suggested for you? If so, what do they consider as basic thyroid tests that would be covered by your insurance? I can't imagine why they wouldn't test at least FT3, FT4, reverse T3 and TSH. That would be a great start.
