Generic Thyroid Medications

by Walking_Man, Mar 06, 2008 10:00AM
I've been taking Levethroid (generic Synthroid) for several years and when I last refilled my prescription, the pharmacist gave me Levethroxine instead. Is it normal for pharmacies to switch generics like this (they've never done it before) or did they make a mistake?

Thanks.

I am having problems with my thyroid and my doctor said that not all the generics have the same strength and they differ from batch to batch and brand to brand. SO even on Levethroid you could get different, but I would not want to change brands because I would think that the chances are higher that way. I am sure you can just tell the pharmacist that you want your usual brand. Maybe they were just out when you tried to fill it.
Good luck!
