Both Hyper and Hypo should avoid soy at all cost...it aggravates the thyroid.

Graves and Hyper should avoid soy, asparteme, iodised salt (use sea salt or rock salt) ,
Broccoli (goitrogenous Vegetable).
If you try and stick to foods that arent packaged ...frozen microwave stuff) then usually you are ok.
Avoid potato chips (crisps), try and eat as healthy as possible.
Since RAI and TT, I cannot eat fresh fish as that too turns my stomach yet when I feel a little hypo , I have a can of tuna and that doesnt upset my tummy and DOES help with those aches and pains.
I do eat yoghurt but have never really been a milk lover.
I do enjoy cheese and continue to eat that.

Basically if there are any foods that dont agree with you...dont eat them.
There are some who go for nuts, grains etc.,......I personally still eat what I was eating 3 years ago with a few adjustments.

One thing I did notice though was prior to RAI and TT..I avoided ALL forms of salt.
And a few weeks ago, I opened a can of Beef Broth Soup (Heinz) and I just couldnt eat it as it was SO salty.
I had never realised this before and have eaten this soup all my life,.
I cant touch tinned soups now.
I tend to make up soups of my own and freeze them...easy and convenient.
I also freeze home made spaghetti bolognaise and pumpkin soup.
I freeze a lot of homemade foods now and its convenient when I come home from work instead of having to cook...I just heat them up.

In the summer, I buy a lot of fruit and make up a big container of fruit salad and just eat it from the fridge non stop...I do enjoy fruit salad.
I avoid full cream milk and thickened cream as they leave me feeling queezy.

I do drink water a lot....I tend to keep refilling a 600ml bottle and carry it everywhere as after RAI, I found for a while that my mouth was always dry.
This sensation left about 6 months later but the 'water' habit stuck with me.
I dont drink juice as its absolutely loaded with sugar and living with Rob (partner) who is a diabetic.....we stopped buying juice when we found out the content of sugar in a 2 litre bottle of juice.
Fresh seems to be best and agrees with me.

I do have the odd 'binge' every now and then and will have a McDonalds cheeseburger but I dont enjoy them like I used to a few years ago and the same goes for Pizza.
I put it down to not having take away food , changing my diet 3 years ago and the 'change' stuck with me.

Graves and Hyper foods to avoid strictly is Soy and Iodine.
They 2 foods will set your levels sky high.

If you find Methimazole has made you super HYPO...eat a can of tuna everyday for a few days...this will ease the aches and also bring the levels up a fraction.
But if you still have a thyroid, dont make a habit of eating tuna.....take fish oil capsules instead.

I take Calcium/D3, Mega B and Cranberry capsules at night.
The cranberry was a lifesaver for me as I suffered with urine infections non stop and havent had one since taking one cranberry capsule at night.
Beats drinking the juice and is a lot cheaper.
Antithyroid meds tend to cause urine burning sometimes so I suggest the Cranberry Capsules for anyone who suffers from this.

BTW..Doc said I have ulcerated windpipe from the hot potato that got stuck in my throat and he gave me an antiseptic, analegesic throat spray.
I'll just be glad when the ulceration has gone so I can eat a proper meal without throat pain lol.

Asparteme aggravates the thyroid apparently ALTHOUGH...yes I do drink Coke Zero...so go figure lol.
Honestly and truthfully...you do what YOU feel RIGHT with doing.
What may affect others may not affect you.

I live my life I want to live it and if any problems then I get to the source of the problem but I have now got to the stage that EVERYTHING we eat or drink or even breathe in ...will kill us lol.
There was a tv program lastnight saying that ORGANIC is not really organic anymore and that fruit and vegetables in Australia are now being imported from China that are being sprayed with chemicals!
So here we all are....thinking we are eating organic when we arent.

Is it any wonder we are all sick???

Eat what agrees with you and drink what agrees with you.
Personally I cant drink full cream milk in my coffee...I have light milk but that is because I changed to light milk in 1993. Full cream milk gives me a yucky feeling in the tummy.

I have been on Gluten for many years with no ill effect although some cant tolerate it and some choice the gluten fee diet as a personal choice.

Avoid all iodised salt, iodine and soy and asparteme found in soft drinks.
Also avoid Broccolli and other goitrogenous vegetables.
