Got my Free T3 and T4!

Sorry to post again but I got my Free T3 and Free T4 from the doc. My Free T3 is 2.8 and my Free T4 is 1.1 I don't know what the normal range is for those but I am sure that is online? My TSH was 17.4

So he raised my synthroid from 88 mcg to 125 mcg.

Any input?

Yeah I don't have the ranges but they appear to show I am hypo. Thing is I felt anxious before the increase. I think it me, I have anxiety and even being hypo not hyper can make you anxious even while tired and depressed. I am going to start exercise to dig  myself out of this hole.

Anxiety is one of those symptoms that "crosses over" and can be a symptom of either hypo or hyper.

You haven't posted your ranges, but it looks like your FT4 is probably on the low side as is FT3, which both agree with your high TSH.  It looks like you needed the increase, but I'd question that big a jump all at once.  Typically, increases are a maximum of 25 mcg.

Is it normal to feel tired yet anxious when hypo?

Yeah I feel hyper and hypo. I am depressed, tired and the stiff joints are back. Yet at the same time I am anxious and agitated.

Reference ranges vary lab to lab, depending on the test kits the lab uses, etc.  So, when you ask for results, you should also ask for the reference range your lab uses.  You can't use a "generic" online range.  You could also get the range by calling the lab directly.  With that information, we can determine where you fall in the range and see what it looks like you should do.

How long have you been on thyroid meds?

How are you feeling?  Still hypo?

Post away. :)

Info from Thyroid Scale Overview by Dr Rind...

"These optimal range values are based on my observation of nearly 5,000 patients and reflect the lab test values that my healthiest patients tended to have, e.g. a professional tennis player with a sprained ankle. Remember that the optimal zone is an approximation and that it is meant to be used as a rough guide. People can feel well outside the optimal range but the chances of feeling well become more remote the further we get from the optimal zone. Note that laboratory techniques for these tests vary and lab values may have a 5-10% margin of error depending on the laboratory used.

Test  Lab Low  Optimal Range  Lab High

TSH  0.5  1.3-1.8  5.0
Free T4  0.8  1.2-1.3  1.8
Free T3  203  320-330  420
Free T3*  2.3  3.2-3.3  4.2

*Some labs divide FT3 results by 100 thus 230 is the same as 2.3, etc."
