Graves Lady: Remember me?!?

Hey Graves Lady,
Charley here - haven't posted for quite some time - things have been soooooo crazy.  I had TT Aug 31 - came off meds and did RAI in October.  My TSH got to 58!!!  I felt like pure ****!  Anyway, Went back to Doc recently and levels were:  Tsh 2.0 and Thyroglobulin 18 - said he wanted it below 20.  I feel so much better, really - but still having hair loss and itchy skin - now have a funky cough - periods are all wacked out - and i still have some edema.  What are your thoughts on this?  I think I am afraid of secondary cancers.  When i had RAI, they gave me 175 millicures...that's pretty high isn't it?
Hope this finds you doing well.  I've been reading a little today - my computer died on me a few months ago - and just got a new one - so I feel like I am finally connected to the world again! Take care!

Charley,

How long after going off meds did it take your TSH to go over 30?  I had my TT 13 Dec.  Started Levothyroxin (T4) 18 Dec - 3 Jan, then took Cytomel (T3) for 1 day.  Started LID on 4 Jan.  Had blood test done 11 Jan and have to wait til Monday to get the results.  I'm scheduled for RAI next Wed, 17 Jan, but the doctor at the nuke center didn't think I would be ready.  My TSH wa 2.13 on 2 Jan but prior to TT it was only .006 due to Graves disease.

Hey Charley, what a pleasant surprise!

Of course I remember you Charley!   I think about you almost everyday and wondering how you are doing and also what happened to you not seeing any post from you.  I took down your email but was leery to bother you.

Sorry you are  going through all the effect of hypo hell, as some call it. You are still early in the process.  You have to remember it takes time for the body to heal.  Just be patient and give yourself plenty of time to heal, whatever it takes.   RAI might have been high but it will only seek out and go where there is cancer. From what I understand it will also go where other cancers are in the body.  Don't worry yourself about secondary cancer, for now anyway.  You need to heal from what you have already been through. I think people can worry themselves into sickness. I know there will be a concern in the back of your mind but keep it there until doctor find suspicion.

Did doctor mention anything about keeping your TSH suppressed?

I am glad you are back and connected to the world again, I know that feeling, LOL!  Looking forward to all your post.  A lot here are having surgery due to thyroid cancer or suspicious nodules.Your experience and support will be welcomed, I'm sure.

I am doing find, thank you.

Keep hanging in there Charley!
