Graves or hyper

I'm new to this site and it was nice to find it I am still trying to understand Hyperthyroidism and Graves' Disease. I was hoping someone can tell me if I am suffering from hyperthyroidism or Graves' Disease. On 8/17/07 my test results were TSH <0.01,T4Free 2.75, TPO AB 66. I also had a RUI-U I don't remember the results, but it was elevated and I think they said it was hot. My other blood work was on 10/29/07 TSH 2.74,T4Free 0.47,12/24/07 TSH 0.04,T4Free 1.26,1/30/08 TSH <0.01,T4Free 2.55. I will have another blood test done around the 10th of May, and I won't see the doctor until the 19th of May. I just want to know if I have Graves' Disease or not.

I started taking  Atenolol 50mg  and Tapazole 10mg in Aug, in Nov I was put on  2.5mg of Tapazole and Atenolol 50mg. In Dec I wasn't feeling good went to see my GP and he ran test  and my enc took me off Tapazole for a month. When I did blood work in Jan he put me on PTU 150 mg a day. My blood work on 05/09/08 was TSH 1.90, T4Free 0.65.

All Graves Disease is hyperthyroidism but not all hyperthyroidism is caused by Graves.  The key to knowing if you have Graves is to have blood tests for the antibodies that cause it - sorry, I can't remember which of the 3 anti-thyroid antibodies are related to Graves, but 2 of them are usually present.  Ask your doctor if the TPO antibody test they did is the one that indicates Graves.  That will give you a definite answer.
