HCTZ and hypothyroidism

by sallygriff, Dec 01, 2007 07:30PM
I have taken synthroid for about 12 years.  A new doctor reduced my dossage from .112 to .111.  She later put me on HTZ for a mild hypertension.  I experienced muscle cramps, severe fatigue (could not get out of bed, lethargy.  I panted from walking three or more steps.  The pressure in my eye accelerated to a vena stasis level.  The phlebotomists could not draw blood.  I drank several bottles of electrolyte water and the dehydration improved.  Later I stopped (on my own) taking the HCTZ and my energy level has returned, my hair has stopped falling out, my eyebrows are growing back.  Could it be that the HCTZ interacted with the Synthroid?
