No, sadly he lives about 5 hours away. I think he has the Doctor of the Year!!
My endo did test the FT3 last time but did not retest this time. what's with that?? Why would he test once and not again? I am hoping he will after the US.
If he does not I will considering getting the FT3 online. I did ask the tech if she could add it to my labs, but she said no, not unless he requested it. Hmmm, I would have thought they could have at my request since I am the one paying. Anyway I also think I could get my MD to do it for me to. That way my insurance would hopefully pay for it. If she will I am going to request the Vitamin Panel too. Any others I need? Thanks for the input.
Is is safe the assume that you don't live near enough to your son's endo to switch?
It is too bad that your endo won't test FT3, that's the most important of the thyroid hormones - the one the body actually uses, so it's very important to know its level. Symptoms correlate best with FT3 and most of us need FT3 to be at least mid range, but many need it higher.
Have you considered looking at an online website to order your own thyroid panel? There are several, but one I've used myself is healthcheckusa. You order online, they send you a lab order and you go to a local lab. In a couple days, they e-mail your results. It cost me $85 for TSH, FT3 and FT4.
Hey lady, I guess you are right...go to a cardio. I will after this US. I really don't expect much on my labs since he just did TSH and T4, Frees..although I did request vitamin D and they said okay. His receptionist is so mean, I did not even dare of asking for anything more. I am hoping he is just reserving anything else til after he does the US. Depending on what that reveals and his approach after that is going to reflect what I am going to ask. Just trying to be open minded and reserve my judgment til then. Again I am hoping that he is just running these 2 because I have not been on the .88mcg for too long and he is just chcking up on those levels. Just really wish he would have added those T3F's. We will see. What is your thought on that? How important are those at this time?
My son is not converting T4 to T3 so his endo put him on Cytomel. He is also Hahi. I have found his treatment interesting, because everything that you guys suggest here is exactly what his doc is doing just as protocal. All the labs, check,,, the conversions, check,,,the dosages, check,,,He never has to ask to have anything done. From the beginning she did complete vitamin profile, complete thyroid panels, complete hormones, complete consult explaining all the ins and outs of thyroid disease and hasi's, what to expect and did an US. He is welcome to call her office and speak to her or the PA at anytime. In fact, when he started out telling me about this is why I seeked a endo and this forum. He started my education. I just had my head in the sand.
But I have never had the Vit D ran so we will see whee those are at. BP is better with the addition of another pill, so headache is better, although I still just feel like throwing in the towel...but I need that for the sweating, haha.
maybe I am just disappointed my endo isn't following the same path as my son's. -sass-
Yes, I am proactive on my bp, I check it daily as suggested by my doc.and yes it has been high pretty much all the time, just sneaking up then I just blew up suddenly again. ha and no white coat syndrome for me. but i liked the suggestion.
I have considered the hypoglycemia also. Usually the other symptoms are so obvious that I have always been able to know that immedi. , not the same with this sweating, although I am picking up a new glucometer today when I go into the big city, (ha)
I am on .88 mcg of Levo, Hashimoto's....
I have had been checked out a few years back by the cardio, but things change so that was why I was wondering about a repeat visit. have had a recent ekg, but that was ok.
I too have been wondering if I may be swinging into the hyper stage, if so I want out!!!!!!New Labs this morning....hopefully it may reveal something pertinent. US next Friday.
Been past the menopause for a while, complete hysterectomy many yrs ago. Never took any replacement hormones bc of breast cancer issue...that is okay now...New endo did run all my female hormones and (ha) they are all in range!!!
I have noticed that if I am moving around more in my store that is usually a starting point for the sweating, then I just go down hill from there. I cannot excersise due to neck, back and knee injuries, so I am always walking as much as I can at work. But if I start really moving around I will always start. It is central air conditioning...and I am talking about just changing bedding on display beds, etc..so excersise does induce it more...
And for as long as I can remember any type of excersise induces EXTREME yawning. Everybody, including docs laugh at that. But it is irratating. Any extra exerition and off I go.
Before injuries I was very active and atheletic. Now not soo much. When weather warms up, back in the pool for moderated excersise. Yes I yawn there too.
Thank You both for responding.. I am really feeling lost. just want to quit. -sass-
2 things come to mind, with the sweating - one is the hypoglycemia - low blood sugar will cause you to break out in a sweat; the other is menopause/perimenopause. In addition, you could be swinging to hyperthyroid. I don't recall your thyroid blood test results, right off hand.
As to the high blood pressure, again, you could be swinging toward hyperthyroid. Do you check your blood pressure between doctor visits? If so, is it high "every" time you check it? I have a blood pressure machine at home, and most of the time, my bp is okay, but invariably, when I go to the doctor it's high -- "white coat syndrome". I would suggest that you see a carido, though, to make sure there's not something wrong with your heart, that is keeping your blood pressure up.
OMG I am going through the same thing right now...going between hot and cold temps. For me, i think it has to do with my T3 meds but I'm not for sure. Are you on medication for your thyroid? Hope someone can help.
Not sure what to say about the sweating issue - I'm assuming that you have tried wearing lighter weight clothing, etc. What does your doctor say about it?
In regards to the blood pressure issue -- I really do think you should get checked by a cardio, just to be on the safe side. Maybe there's a connection there with the bp and sweating. Just a thought that might be worth checking out.
