Hi Heath,
Sorry to hear that your FNA ended the way it did, but hopefully they got enough of a sample to allow for a conclusive result. I also had my FNA done and it went well. I did not have any problems. Although I decided not to get any numbing shot. The doctor explained to me that it was actually the worse part of the procedure. So he said if I wanted we could try it without and if I needed it we could go ahead and administer it. The needle pokes were not all that bad. The part that was the worst was the pressure when he went into the nodule. I am now doing the worst part of this and that is waiting for the results. Good luck!
Laura and Michele...Good to hear I'm not alone. Happy that yours went a little better then mine. I've had ice on for the past few hrs. was worried about the hematoma, but apparently it's not uncmmon. I'm going to keep myself busy this week and keep my mind off waiting as much as possible. Please let me know your results. Good luck to us all!
I'm in the FNA club with you, Heath! I had mine on Monday. It wasn't bad at all. The Dr. didn't numb it, but I only felt a small poke. I did get a little concerned when he said to the intern...."The nodule is right behind her jugular....hmmm."
Afterwards, it hurt behind my ear. Not sure what the connection was.
Now it's just waiting for the results...Grrr.
Hope you don't need another FNA and that you get good results :).
Michelle
Hi Heath....aren't you glad its over! The stress of not knowing what it is like having an FNA is a whole lot worse than the procedure. Except for the poor people who have a dr that does it without numbing first.
Mine went smoothly when I had it done. I had 2....one complex and one that was drainable. I remember having to ice for 48 hrs afterwards with rest so it wouldn't bleed out. They also did a core biopsy during that procedure on the complex cyst. I think the pressure is the worst for the anxiety of it all! lol Especially with a core as they actually take tissue.
Glad you made it okay....let us know the results.
The waiting is the hardest part! :(
