Back in December I was experiencing symptoms of hypothyroidHypothyroidism Hypothyroidism - primary Hypothyroidism - secondary Neonatal hypothyroidism Primary and secondary hypothyroidism ( depressed, extreme fatigue, cold) and my lab results were: T3 - 25.4, T4T4 test - 8.36, TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh - 8.5. My doctor was reluctant to put me anything, but finally prescribed LevothyroxineLevothyroxine Levothyroxine sodium. Over afew months, he adjusted my meds and my hair is falling out in handfuls. I am on 50mcg a day and now my lab results are: T3- 28.8, T4- 13, TSH - 3.7. I feel much better, but I am depressed about my severe hair loss. I am a 36 yr. old female and have fine, thin hair to begin with. My doctor said that the medicaiton could be the cause of the hair loss and to stop taking the medication and see how I feel. IS is normal for people to loose a lot of hair on Levothyroxine? Also, how long will it take for my hair to quit falling out?
