Has anyone switched from Nature Thyroid to Armour?

Since there is a nation wide shortage of Nature Thyroid, I'm being switched to Armour.  2 issues, one is that Armour has gluten in it.  The other issue is my doctor cut the dosage in half because he says it's stronger.  I don't run out of my current medication, Nature Thyroid, until tomorrow.  I'm scared to death about the switch since it seems like it took a lifetime to get where I'm at.  Has anyone made the switch?  What should I expect?

The doctor cutting your dosage in half makes no sense to me.  Both NatureThroid and Armour Thyroid are made from desiccated porcine thyroid.  Both contain the same amount of T4 and T3 per grain:  38 mcg of T4 and 9 mcg  of T3.  You can look at the following links and see their inactive ingredients.

From review of the active ingredients I can't imagine why there would be a difference in thyroid effect.  If it were me I would question cutting your dosage in half and risking becoming hypo again, unless the doctor can provide a valid reason.  I have switched from Armour to NatureThroid without noticing any effect.

What is your current daily dosage?  What are your Free T4 and Free T3 levels and their reference ranges shown on the lab report?  Are you free of symptoms on your current dosage?

That's what I've seen and I agree.  He insists that it's stronger...very frustrated!  Thank you for your response.  I really appreciate it!
I switched to Armour after not being able to get Nature Throid and almost immediately developed symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome and pain in my arms. I called my pharmacy and was able to get Nature Throid again and will be switching back tomorrow.
If it were me I would check the inactive ingredients in the two and see if there is something that could cause such a result for you..
