Has there been a change in Armour?

I recently read that there has been a change to Armour. And that many people are reporting that they do not feel as well.  One woman said she changed from Armour to Nature Thyroid and she immediately felt better and stated taht others are reporting similar issues with Armour.

I have noticed my wife has been having fatigue symptoms that are reminicent of when she was very Hypo. This despite her fairly recently having her Armour dosage increased (she is on 3 grains - 180 mgs per day split dose).

So the rumor would fit what I have seen in my wife.

Have any of you had similar symptoms or have heard that Armour has somehow changed?

if it is true, then my wife may have a problem as our HMO now and recelty ONLY will pay for Armour. I know, I know it makes zero sense!  But I have called twice to confirm this.  MAYBE if I can get a Dr to write the script with a note saying ONLY some other medication will do we might get coverage. But I think my co-pay will dramatically increase by like 400% of what Armour would be!

Anyway, I wanted to put out the APB and see if anyone knows anything about this possible change in armour.

WOW.  $26 for 90 days.

Like I said we pay $5 per month co pay. So that would be $15 just to get a medicine that seems to not be working!  I will gladly pay $10 more a month to have my wife feel better!

I have seen on another competing forum site several people complaining about the ineffectivness of Armour.

Also there are complaints on consumer affairs with some people having significant adverse reactions!

My wife stopped splitting the dose as she could not stay awake at work so went to taking the full 3 grains (180 mgs) in the morning. Of course that means by the evening she is wiped out and tired and grumpy.

My oldest who is also on Armour is starting to get her head aches again as well.

I think there is definately something going on with Armour effectiveness.

For my wife she is not having adverse reactions, just the return of Hypo symptoms.  This even despite fairly recent dosage increase.

Ok, I just checked for you, this Dec I paid 25.99 for 90 days; no insurance and they said if I was a member I would save an additional $4 (not sure if that is total or per month). The online order was convenient and reasonably fast. My doc just called it in after I set up an account.

Is the Costco out or pocket cost for Nature Thyroid?  Or is that with insurance coverage for $30 for 90 days!  That is rock bottom cheap if so!

And I'm already a member of Costco!

heck my co-pay at my normal pharmacy for Armour is I think $15 ($5/month) for the 90 days!!!!!

Insurance is nuts, my new plan only covers armour too, even though nature throid is cheaper. Go figure. The best deal I found was to order a 90 day supply mail order through Costco and you don't have to be a member. It cost me under $30 for 90 days.
Best, Kel

Thanks Barb,

I think my wifes thyroid is log ago been history.  But possibly not.

I heard it on another forum where a woman was complaining about it and switched and she said she read and heard about similar result with other women.  So like I said. It is a bit rumor or third party heresay at best.

Which is why I wanted to post here as a more concrete source.  I have not been as active as in the past as of recently so this rumor perked my ears up for sure.

I haven't heard anything on this forum about any changes or anyone no long satisfied with their Armour, nor have I read anything in medical news.  Where did you hear this?

Your wife has Hashimoto's, so it's possible that thyroid destruction is outpacing increases in her Armour.
