Hashimoto

Hi i'm wodering if there is any supplement, food, or treatment that could lower antithyroglobulin. My daughter's levels ( she is now 13) are around 450 in a 0 to 115 klU/L range and doctors can only recomend a 'wait and see' position. She is otherwise normal except for a very reduced speed of growth ( hight).

Her numbers are;
T4 free 14.1 for a 9-24pmql/L
her tsh is 1.68 in a .490-4.570 mlU/L range
her thyroid peroxidase tpo is 34 in a 0-40 klU/L range
her antithyroglobulin is 450 in a 0-115 klU/L range

Is there anything to be done that could help.

Thanks,

MelisMom

First, the TSH level normal range has been updated. It is now .3-3.0. My endocrinologist really wants me to be at a 1 though.

I have heard that a gluten free diet can help antithyroglobulin. A chiropractor that has Hashimoto's told me that she had read about it and has now been on a gluten free diet and sees her levels dropping. Not entirely sure why this is. I would assume it is because celiac disease and hashimoto's co-occur frequently and perhaps it is because of an undiagnosed celiac.

As to supplements. I'm a fan of getting tested to find out what the deficiencies are. Anytime we repair deficiencies the body works better. Check out http://vitamintesting.com/.
