Hashimotos and grey hair

Hi
I've been reading all the posts about hair loss, which I have lost some, but am I the only one whose hair went prematurely grey.  I was just recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's.  In January my hair turned grey almost overnight.

I'm not even 40 yet and my hair is about 80% grey.

I have Graves disease and had RAI and TT,
I found that as soon as I had RAI (which made me hypo) I went very grey.
As the months passed, I had more grey than my own natural dark hair.

Dont know if it was coincidence, whether it was stress from being hyper so long but I deal with it.
I decided it was easier to cover grey with blonde tips.
So I have my hair coloured my natural colour then have blonde tips done with the cap.
I cant have my whole head blonde as I am allergic to the strong peroxide but found that the grey blends in well with the blonde tips.

As far as I'm concerned....grey is the least of my worries.
I am alive and thats all that matters to me lol.
Weight was my big issue.
I went from 55 kgs to 71 kgs....a huge weight gain.
Looked like a damn goldfish too !
Then as my levels became stable, I lost the weight and am currently 57 kgs.
I didnt exersise or take any diet stuff...the weight just dropped off.
If my levels change, I fluctuate in weight but only by 2 kgs so feel good in that area.

Go treat yourself to a new you!
Go blonde ,,,,hugs x

Quite interesting.  Initially found some gray hairs when I was 27.  Hairdresser says there's a touch of own color left now at 50, just enough to help determine what color range would be best.  HA  Was always under the impression that maternal grandmother went grey a bit young but she also had a goiter too.  My mother only had a few grey hairs until 65 or so.  My poor Son won't know on this score, since his Father and his Mother's family ALL go grey very early...like 19/20/21 and almost completely.

Sorry, Hypo without yet knowing if any auto-immune involved.

Hi Katty:

I don't know the answer but here's what I do know:

I am new here and dx'd 4 years ago.  I just turned 50 but I didn't have any grey til the last 4 years and I very suddenly got a ton of greys in my eyebrows, temples, and part.  A friend's mom that has Hashi's said it is very common to go grey early with Hashi's and my mother in law has thyroid issues and went grey in her 20's.
