Hashimoto's and vitiligo related?

I have had white patches around my eyes (vitiligo) for years.  I was diagnosed w/Hashi's hypothyroid last Sept TSH 4.8 in Nov 06 TSh 4.2 (on Levothroxine 75) Jan 07 TSH .02 lowered dosage to 50 levothroxine and April 07 TSH jumped up to 20.55 (now on Armour generic 60mg)...This is when I noticed that more white patches appeared under both arms and down each side of my torso!!!  Does anyone no if these appeared because my TSH numbers are completely crazy and if more white patches appear that my thyroid is REALLY low?  I go back in 6 wks to get my TSH, T-3 and T-4 checked I really hope he ups my dosage because I felt good for about 1 wk no all symtoms are back:-(  So frustrating.

Thank you all for listening.

Vitiligo can be a symptom of celiacs (gluten intolerance) which is also an autoimmune disease.  Celiacs can interfere with the absorbtion of nutrients as well as prescriptions drugs.  Try to see if you have other celliac symptoms or try to avoid wheat products to see if it helps

Both are autoimmune disorders, meaning your immune system is attacking a part of your body. In the case of hashi, it's attaching your thyroid. I've read that if you have one auto-immune conidition, you're at higher risk to come down with another. Auto immune disorders usually have a genetic basis. I don't think the vitiligo is directly related to your thyroid problem, TSH, etc. This would be a good question to post to the MD on the MD forum. Also, tell your doctor!!
