Hashi's Vs. Bipolar, lots of physical plagues still but resolved with mental symptoms

Hi,

I was diagnosed bipolar after years of having hypothyroid symptoms, my hair started falling out at about 15, by 35, I was on the verge of myexdema coma when my hashi's was found.  I don't believe I am really bipolar because the synthroid resolved my insomina and panic attacks which were real bad.  Those CNS depressents i was given for bipolar just about killed me every time I took them, I seem to have so many problems with psych meds since I was placed on disability for psych reasons, it seems like my life goes in to jeopardy every time I take psych meds, ie, coma-style.  I am still having lots of new problems since diagnosed with hashi's two years ago, abdominal pain, persistant constipation, naseau, vomiting, severe fatigue like never before.  I wonder if I am under treated as far as synthroid is concerned despite normal TSH. My TPOab antibodies were at 553 a few months ago, and with all these physical problems would you think it would be wise to experiement with psych meds when physical pain related to thyroid still exists and has not been resolved.  Most of these physical problems I have listed have occured since starting synthroid...
Please give comment please.
Thanks

I got diagnosed with Schmitts' Syndrome, PGA Type II, which is Addison's and Hashimoto's.  I am on Adrenal Medications and feeling much better.  I guess I am not bipolar according to my new therapist!

was diagnosed with Hashimoto's in May of this year, although I suspect I've had it for a long time as I have put on a great deal of weight, although I exercise almost daily, and my then-doctor didn't take my weight gain seriously.   My thyroid levels are still pretty off and I also have psych problems.......I have had an eating disorder in the past and could not cope with the weight gain, so I was taking too much of my thyroid medication in hopes of lowering the number on the scale.  Didn't work too well because after a couple of months of this, my lab results showed Hyper; my endo figured out what I was doing and I only lost a pound, and now I have to have my thyroid checked more frequently.  Besides all that, I am suffering from anxiety, some OCD symptoms.  For example, I feel like I must exercise daily, even when I had a second degree sprained ankle last winter.  I refused to rest a day and ended up needing a brace and PT because I continued to exercise.  I wash my hands often and use hand lotion immediately---I must do this.  My moods are unstable and I become irritated easily, anxious and depressed.   I weigh myself often to see if I have lost any weight.  I also binge eat now and crave anything salty or sweet.  I had my adrenals checked and the plasma levels are always fine, but my saliva cortisol tests are a different story---on the low end of normal, and can't find a doctor who will take me seriously and treat me properly.  I have a new primary/internist and he thinks I am bipolar and OCD and he put me on a low dosage of Zoloft and sending me to a therapist for treatment.  No one I know thinks I am bipolar.  This is very upsetting to go through all this and not receive proper treatment.

I had Graves' Disease and am also bipolar.  My bipolar was diagnosed about 5 yrs before onset of thyroid so I know is accurate dx.  But yours' doesn't sound like it to me.  Yours' sounds like common thyroid symptoms.  Don't know why taking synthroid would have helped bipolar, it does nothing for mine.  Don't know what kind of dr dx your bipolar, but think you need a second opinion.  But of course, that is only my opinion.
Good luck.
