I feel your pain! I, too, have been losing lots of hair for over a year and it has completely consumed every aspect of my life. I was put on Levothroid and it seemed to make it worse, so I stopped it and now my new doc thinks I have an adrenal issue? Have you had your cortisol checked? It's recommended that you do the 24 hour saliva test. Here is a link to a reputable place that I went through: http://canaryclub.org/ Here is a link that talks about adrenal fatigue: http://www.jigsawhealth.com/articles/adrenal-fatigue-syndrome-symptoms.html
Notice one of the symptoms is hair loss. I have also heard that it is not good to only treat the T4 even if your T3 is within range: http://www.altsupportthyroid.org/t3/t3medrefs1.php
Good luck and know you are not alone!

It takes a lot of hair loss for the average person to notice a difference in someone else.
People (who are not hypothyroid) lose, on average, 150-200 hairs everyday. So, some daily hair loss is normal.
I started lossing hair about one month before my hypo/hashi diagnosis. It seem to get worse after I started synthroid. But recently it seems to be tapering off. I'm still finding hairs, but everywhere, all the time like before. I was diagnosed in April, so I've been losing hair from March to now (late July), that's four months into treatment before I see the hair loss letting up. My tsh is getting closer to normal (5.3), so that might be the reason for it tapering off. MD said it would eventually stop.I don't know if my situation if typical. People tell me my hair looks the same, but think it seems a little thinner. I'm female, so hair loss is extremely upsetting!! Good luck.
