Hi All-

I just joined and have been having some issues since my TT in April. I am on Armour Thyroid.. I have been on for 8 weeks now. How long does it take to start to feel any better? I have been up and down. I am currently on 60mgs of Armour. 30 in the morning and 30 by 1pm. I just had labs done last week to see where I am number wise.. I was on Synthroid but didnt take. I was on 88mcg. What is that equivalent to with the Armour? Could I be in the right dose? Looking forward to making some new friends that can relate!

Hi Gia!
Welcome to our exciting and very informative board---you have come to the right place for all things thyroid related, and this is a very supportive community.  You'd think you grew up with these people or something.  I don't have a really good answer for you because I just had my TT for thyroid cancer on 5/19, so I was put on Cytomel 37.5mcg (150 mcg equivalent of Synthroid) for a month and then taken off of it to prepare for RAI ablation.  After my RAI I was still start on 137 mcg Synthroid.  On that dose of Cytomel I was pretty miserable just about every day...I had headaches, anxiety, etc.  Hopefully, this starting dose of Synthroid will make me feel ok.  I heard it can take up to a year or more (YIKES!) to find the correct dosage.  So I don't have any experience with Armour, but I did find this website: http://www.drumlib.com/dp/000016.htm
that may help you do the calculation.  Since Armour has T3, and synthroid doesn't, it's a careful mathematical calculation to line up dosing amounts.  I know someone on here ( I think ChitChat) actually has to space her dosage out up to 4 times a day, and you might also need to do that...hopefully we get some thyroid meds veterans to weigh in!!
Again, welcome to the community, we are all here for you!!
