Why does my throat hurt like a sore throat and why like at the collar bone in the front of throat hurt not all the time but sometimes like today really bad and i feel like i cannot get enough to drink and it just hurts and pressure feeling and the bottom of my throat...Do not think I should call doctor I am sure this is normal until I have the surgery. I just never knew this would get like this because they always told me my thyroid was fine because my blood levels where fine....just needed to vent...

Thanks!!! However, I do not feel it is depression I think thirst comes about when my diabetes gets a little high and I had eaten a taco salad for lunch so I think all the lettuce with little meat did it...lol  it is not a burning in the throat it is a feeling of a sore throat...Thanks again

Could it possible be acid reflux?  Pretty common with thyroid problems, I think.  Makes my throat burn and makes me really thirsty.  Interestingly enough with me it's usually the water that causes it.  So the more I drink, the worse it gets.  I know, I'm weird.

My other thought would be depression.  It causes the same kind of burning feeling in the throat, but I don't think I'm usually excessively thirsty, unless, of coarse I've dehydrated myself crying! =))

Of  coarse, it never hurts to call your dr if they'll listen.  Hope it gets better soon, sounds absolutely miserable.

Ok.  Because diabetes was what I was thinking, excessive thirst being one of the signs that your blood sugar's too high.  Best to keep an eye on that.

I go on the 29th for all the blood work my surgery is tuesday the 5th of June...I check my blood sugar because from starting the endo doctor not only has this doctor find this thyroid problem she also discovered I am diabetic he was not to bad...and it has gone down...I sure hope this gets better I am so sick of it.

I think you should call your dr about this.  Not so much for the pain (although I'm sure that's the most alarming bit), but excessive thirst needs to be investigated.  Did they run blood tests prior to your surgery this coming Friday?
