Levothyroxine's Effects on Antibodies in Hashimoto's Patients...
"Researchers looked at the impact that levothyroxine treatment has on the levels of antithyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPO-Ab) in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Generally, while it's known that treatment can cause these antibodies to drop, the researchers wanted to have a better sense of the specific effect. The study found that 92% of the patients studied had a decrease in TPO-Ab.
While the mean antibody level was 4779 IU/mL, the levels typically decreased by 8% in the first 3 months, 45% after a year. At five years, the levels were down to a mean of 1456 a decrease of 70%. A total of 16% of patients had TPO-Ab levels became negative (measured at less than 100 IU/mL)."
Both FT3 and FT4 are way too low, and TSH is high, indicating you are under medicated. Your FT4 is 10% of range, and the rule of thumb for FT4 is 50%. FT3 is 33% of range. The rule for FT3 is 50+%, and on Armour is sometimes more like 66+%.
Do you still have lots of hypo symptoms?
Thanks for responding
Results are after taking 60 MG of Armour daily for about 1 yr
Thanks in advance, Mike
Elevated antibody counts indicate Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Hashi's is an autoimmune disease and the most prevalent cause of hypothyroidism in the developed world. Both TPOab and TGab are elevated, indicating you have Hashi's.
Thyroid meds (including Armour) have no effect on antibody levels.
Were the labs you posted before or after starting Armour? If after, how long after?
How much Armour are you taking and how long had you been on it when these labs were run?
