A little history for those that are new or don't remember me:
Well I went to the doctor and found out my doctor of 11 years had left to go back to school. New Dr. is a D. O.
Have still been having episodes of back pain, stomach pains/bloating and muscle aches threw out my body, lightheadedness, high BP, heart palpitations groin and ovary pains intermediately. Also have had pain for years right in between my my rib cage down the center of my stomach. Guessing that is my fatty liver. Anyhow..............
The appointment was just to get my meds refilled for my yearly bld work and visit though. "I did bring up to her that my neck was sore on the right hand side under my chin for the last week; but has happened before so I figured it was just a lymph node swollen in which can be typical for me in my body. (the pain was running straight down in between my esophogus and and ear)". So she ran a thyroid US.
I got my results back the other day. She want's my levels tested again in 6 months and have another US of my thyroid again at the same time to check a some small colloid cysts on each side. In a nutshell the irregular bld results are:
All High: Total Cholesterol, LDL, TIBC, UIBC, GGT, TGB, Mono#, HGB, AIC, Glucose
All Low: Vitamin D, Chloride, NA and MPV
In the mean while I'm supposed to watch my diet, exercise, quit smoking/ drinking and avoid stress. lol O yeah.....she also wanted me to have a pap test, mammogram and colonoscopy. Told her I would think about getting the mammogram done and possibly that pap. lol Wondering with the blood work what she is looking for?
As for thyroid test they were normal at (RANGE: 0.83-1.70).... FT4 .93 (was 1.20) and....(RANGE: 0.35-5.50) TSH 1.35 (was .74) not sure if numbers are going from hypo to hyper or visa versa? I'm stupid on thyroid stuff. They have definitely changed though from last May a little. Just wondering which way in case they continue to change in the direction they are going. They are usually within just a couple points.
So I'm still taking my lopressor, lipitor, dyazide/maxide (decreased due to recall), levothyroxine and baby aspirin. Also supposed to take Vitamin D3 1000 units twice daily now since my D was low. (wondering also how to do that w/ the levoT in the AM with my other pills?) Does it matter?
Thank you in advance for any replies.
Your levels with thyroid are going hypo, but not too dramatically. Not forgetting it is winter where you are and many people find they go hypo during that time.
Keep up the Vit D, again with winter, lack of sunlight is going to cause the body to do a number on itself, including aches and pains. It is probably a good idea to go up by 1,000 ius through out winter. Just take two of the 1000 at the same time, and the other one whenever it suits you. I take my Vit D in mid afternoon. It needs to be at least 4 hours away from the levo.
Lipitor works better if you take it at night.
Cholesterol is usually high in thyroid patients, there is a correlation with the mechanism of thyroid and cholesterol production getting out of whack. (don't ask me the chemistry of it, it's too complicated!!! LOL!)
Harder to do than say but yes, giving up smoking in the long run will benefit. There is a promotion here in Australia saying that within 3 months of quitting you halve your risk of a heart attack. That within 10 days the poisons are almost out of the body. They talk about aches and pains too, and believe they can be related to poor vascular flow in the body due to narrowing of arteries, which cause pains. All good reasons to try to give up!
Keeping an eye on the cysts at this time is probably a wise move. Obviously if they get bigger or cause more pain then it might be a good idea to be cautious and get biopsies done.
Cheers and hugs!
