any advice for me? I have been taking synthroid meds. since Jan.08 (almost 2 months now) I have gained about 12 pounds and i am not eating any different, i was slim and comfortable now i feel crappy with the extraExtra strength mylanta calci tabs Extra strength pain relief 12 pounds and i have a gut and a heavier butt and thighs (very depressing). Also another thing that is really bothersome, i have been very moody, i don't like being this way. I have not been myself. Help Pls.
What was your last TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh reading and what dose of synthroid are you on? It sounds like you might need to increase the dose. You should probably get another blood test soon to see where your TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh is now.
If I eat bread, rice or oats I gain weight and feel real sluggish. I have lost 20 pounds but it took me almost 6 mo. I know how frustrating it is. One interesting this is that I was taking to much thyroid med so it made me gain weight, lose my hair and have mood swings with depression. I am slowly doing better with less med. Maybe see someone at a health food store. They have great knowledge when it comes to our complex bodies.
Your thyroid problem and the meds are changing your metobolism right now. Your body is trying to adjust to the change. At the beginning when I became hypo - I was miserable with the same situation. I went to a 800 calorie diet - yet I really didn't exercise much due to fatigue. I have gained (and don't be scared) 40 pound in total on 4 years. Now though after 4 years I feel better on my medication and hopefully start walking and trying to lose weight like a real person soon.
Stay very simple on a diet plan and moderately exercise until your thryoid is balanced.
Every 6 to 8 weeks you will have blood tests - keep in mind most people enjoy and become stable around a 1.0 to a 1.5 TSH level and start to see many improvements around that number. Shoot for that.
Also - answer if possible ifupleze on TSH number and Synthroid dosage - that can be the big tell all on your weight.
I feel you are too soon into your thyroid issues to be dabbeling in weight loss information. Taking anything whether supplements to enhance weight loss or energy supplements could result in a more complex thyroid problem than what you have. A good multi vitaimin is worth checking into.
