5 months ago I had a partialPartial (focal) seizure Partial thromboplastin time (ptt) Thyroid gland removal thyroidectomy. Everything seemed to be going okay. However, all of the sudden I gained 7 pounds over a weekend and have been struggling the last few weeks with extreme fatigue. I went and had my TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh levels checked and they were 3.0. Before surgery they were 1.1. The dr said that she would re-test them in a month and that if they stay at this level we will begin the meds. Does anyone have any suggestions on what type of medication? Also, once on the medication will the weight come off? I lost 5 of it when I counted calories and exercised 1 1/2 hours a day. I began to eat a 2000 calorie diet again and gained the 7 pounds back over 2 days. I know that it sounds bazzarre, but it's happening. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Thanks so much for your help.
I know that right now, I put on several pounds in a week, but i only has my surgery 2 weeks ago. I'm taking .175 of the synthroid and perhaps it's too early to see any true results yet?
It's amazing to me how many things that little gland controls.
Best of luck, hopefully someone else can be of more help!
