The reason your blood sugar is up is because you are taking selenium without taking iodine.  The two work together.  You CAN take high dose of iodine with Hashimoto's, however, you need the higher levels of selenium and other vitamins such as C, E, and the various B vitamins first to avoid problems.  I suggest you come up to speed on the research at the following site:

I have tested some of what they say on myself and others and it all seems to be accurate.  This includes using higher doses of iodine to normalize blood sugar.  Iodine also seems to interact with iron as I have seen blood iron abnormalities also correct when someone started taking higher dose iodine.

Well you can always tell who types slower and who types faster, thus the repeated info. But -  consistent answers are especially good in your case.  Need better treatment base on info provided.

This is the member forum, we are not doctors. That is the expert forum, and it can take awhile for answers.

I am not a doctor, but have hoshimotos and will give you some experienced insight on you questions anyway.

NOTE: Even Dr. Lupo will wonder what your last labs where for a refenence point and what throid meds you are on since selenium is an element/mineral that will support but not cure Hoshimotos.

Hoshimotos is caused by antibodies attacking the thyroid gland in you neck. The cause of the antibodies is not yet known. This is life long and does not go away, requires treatment and testing for proper management of the condition.

"is there any new madication I can take?" - Thyroid hormone replacement medication is prescribed by doctors based on your symptoms and lab test results.

It sound like you are NOT on any thyroid medication even though you are aware of your antibodies? TSH with free T3 and Free T4 levels need to be tested several times a year.

This is the thyroid patients' forum.  In order to get your post to Dr. Lupo, you need to go to this site.  They only take about 6-8 posts a day, so it is sometimes difficult to achieve.

I can't help but comment that if you have had Hashimoto's for that long, I'm amazed that your doctor is still treating you with selenium only.  Why aren't you on thyroid medication?  That is the only way you are going to alleviate hypo symptoms resulting from low FT3 and FT4 levels, caused by the Hashi's.  If you haven't been tested for FT3 and FT4 , along with TSH, then that should be done first thing.  Then if you will post the results, along with reference ranges, then members will be glad to help interpret.
