Synthroid is T4 but your body also converts it to T3. He is increasing it b/c your TSH is 34. That is what is causing all your symptoms. Did they do T4 and T3 or FreeT's? There is a lot of difference in the way the Free's are done and are more accurate readings. Hopefully when you go back in 4 wks, most endos do it at 6, your TSH will have come down and you will be feeling better.
Synthroid is a generic name for synthetic thyroxine, a thyroid hormone replacement drug. This drug contains the synthetic form of our natural thyroid hormone, T4.
The active ingredient in Synthroid and the other replacement hormones is chemically identical to our body's own thyroxin (T4). They are chemically absolutely the same and are not toxic like other medications. Our bodies are designed to use this chemical, every day of our lives. In a way, this synthetic product is the most natural of all our treatment options.
