High TSH and T4 since August

by Les413, Jan 06, 2009 08:41AM
Help!  I have now had 4 blood tests in a row that show high TSH and high T4.  I had my thyroid removed in May 2006.  In the past 2 weeks my blood tests have been TSH and T4 of 12 and TSH and t4 of over 14.  The results have noth been high since August.  I am getting a referral to an endocrinologist, but wondering what possible causes are.  I have been on varying doses of levoxyl since my thyroid surgery.  Yesterday my primary doctor changed my dose from 100 to 112.  I am having some symptoms of always cold and weight gain.

Any ideas?

You sound like me. I had a TT almost 15yrs ago (1993). For the last 7 months my TSH levels have been here and there. I had been on Levothroid (200mcg) for the past 10yrs and have had my dosage decreased in the last two.

I have been battling the dosage level, but no knows what could be causing it, so all they can do is adjust dosage. Maybe being our hormones are changing as we age.

Jul - .5 (TSH) Levothyroxin (levothyroxine) 125mcg
Aug - .95        "
Oct. - .44      " (Changed dosage change to 100mcg)
Dec. - 5.19  (Changed dosage to 112mcg.)

Hope you find out why this happens.
