High TSH despite Synthroid

by Exhausteddd, Feb 15, 2009 09:47PM
I had my thyroid removed in September of 2008 and had RAI in December (using Thyrogen).  My TSH was normal in August when the tumor was discovered.  In November it was 19.  I increased the dose of Synthroid and by the end of December the TSH was down around 7.  I increased the dosage further to 175 mcg and just last week my TSH came back over 33.  My free T4 was normal.  My endo said she didn't know why this would happen and told me to take an extra 1/2 pill two times a week.  Does anyone know why I would have gone down and then back up so much?  Is there anything I can do to be more functional?  My job is going to be in jeopardy if I don't get this taken care of.  Thanks.
