High Tsh, normal t4, affecting periods

My TSH and t4 were tested and here are my results: TSH 31.76, t4-8.4
Doctor put me on 0.1mg Synthroid and I see her again in 6 weeks. Been on the drug for 5 days now, and my period is not coming. I am on my placebo week of pills and am wondering if the Synthroid can cause me to stop periods or for them to be irregular like this?
Also,will this go away or do I need to be on Synthroid the rest of my life?

Sorry, should explain more. I am 29, have a family history of hypothyroidism (both mom and grandma take Synthroid) and I take the birth control pill Microgestin.

That seems to be hypothyroid and I have read that thyroid problems can mess with your periods. I am not sure to anything else but welcome to the community! I am sure someone with more experience will be able to help you more.
