How Long?

How long does it take for your meds to take effect on your hair loss symptoms, I 've been on them since late October.

Hopefully the meds are bringing you back to a normal range. As soon as you get close to a normal TSH your symptoms of hair loss could resolve.

It does also depend on your family issues and history. If hair loss is common in your family then with your thyroid condition you could have brought that and that would mean it may be difficult to grow back.

Hint - stay off all colors and perms - only use natural products on your hair and take zinc to help rebuild follicals. No hair spray - only a light mouse or pump.

Know how you are feeling if you are worried about the hair + everything that is going on.Some people say that taking evening primrose oil is supposed to help- I have been throwing them down my throat with all the other tablets that have been prescribed. Everything that i have read seems to give me hope that the condition will eventually reverse- here's hoping.
Take care

You can go ahead and put the rinse in - but this is a symptom of being sick and any chemicals used could push more hair loss for you. I am a dark blond and lighten too. I have a ton of hair so when mine was thinning it wasn't a big deal.

Hair follicals are very sensitive to any hormone changes. So you may not be able to control this until your hormones balance.

I called my doc about this just yesterday as I'm losing hair by the handfuls!  He just told me it takes time. I want to know exactly how much time!  He gave me the speech on how hair is on a cycle of growth and falling out. When you start jacking with hormones in the middle of a hair cycle all kinds of things get out of whack.  He said give it a good 6 months, take the EPO and get some good hair vitamins.  Once the hormones are back on track you can expect to have a nice head of hair about 6 months later.
