stop the maddness is a nut job website and I personally advise against it...the do a lot of self medicating and that is danerous...they also are very fired up on adrenal gland disfunction and I don't really think they are MD's to be self diagnosing illness either...just my oppinion...go to the Armour thyroid website for your conversion info...

most doctors start u out on 1/4 grain witch is 15 mgs. and then work up. 1 grain is equal to about 75 to 100mcgs of synthroid.
I would start out on hardly anything. like the smallest piece u can break off and see how your body reacts. I tried it after being on synthetics for years and i took hardly anything of armour and it was extremely uncomfortable about 5 hours later. felt like i was going to black out.I was taking 75mcgs of synthroid and i broke off 1/3 of half a grain and had a bad reaction. I tried it two more times and gave up.I think its because my body is used to synthetics. I notice feeling bad from just swithching brands. so switching to Armour was even more of a change for my body. Maybe if i'd been on Armour for years and switched to synthroid the same thing might have happened.
there is a conversion page at the armourthyroid web site that will do the math for you

Hi you,
http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ this website I just posted might be better able to help you figure out your question. It is dedicated to all people trying to use or who have used a natural vs synthetic hormone replacement. It is filled with a lot of good information on Armour.
Take care & I hope this helps you!

Hi,
I don't want to be a killjoy but Armour really doesn't suit everyone, despite what you may read. Do you have any scope to increase your current dose to see if your symptoms improve before taking such a radical step? What are your current results and ranges.
I grain of Armour (ie 60mg) has 38mg of T4 and 9mg of T3 in it. Therefore your equivalent would be about 2.5 to 3 grains although the proportions are slightly different. If you really want to change I would suggest maybe you swap directly over to 2 grains and then build up by half a grain every 3-4 weeks.
Just a suggestion, best wishes, J
