How far does goiter pain spread?

Hi, all, again!

Today my mom's endo said she shouldn't be feeling neck pain with her goiter. He said it should be located to just the thyroid.

The entire right side of her neck hurts. He did an ultrasound and there is a noticeable goiter with several benign looking lumps. I have Hashi, and sometimes, my pain spreads to my chest and ears.

What about the rest of you? Is her doctor just REALLY full of sh#$! Or is goiter pain meant to be isolated to the thyroid?

Thanks,
:) Tamra

When I changed meds this spring (rough experience) I was swinging between hypo and hyper. At that time I got pain attacks in the thyroid area at first, which in turn spasmed some neck muscles. Evil circle of pain! I did the ultra sound- they found small nodules also.

It was way more severe than the GERD tightness of the upper esophigeal area.

Similar area but different type of feel and cause I would say.

When my labs leveled out, the pain went away!

Thanks for your response. I get the choking feeling sometimes. It's worse when I have GERD.
