It will take a few weeks for the med to get completely out of your system, but there really isn't any need to let it get that bad.
I'm assuming that you've been on some type of levothyroxine... generic levo is not very expensive, even without health insurance. I just did a price search online and you should be able to get 30 levo pills in your dosage for around $10. Check the cost at your pharmacy without insurance, then check various pharmacies in your area to get the best prices... Walmart and Walgreen's would the first places I'd check as they seem to be the least expensive in my area... If you have refills left on your script, you can simply have them transferred to a less expensive pharmacy. If not, call your doctor and have her/him call in a script to which every pharmacy you choose. Going without medication is not an option.
It takes 4-6 weeks for levo to completely leave your system, but of course, you will start feeling sick long before that.
If you don't already take generic levo, ask your doctor for a script for generic. I pay about $15 a month for brand name Levoxyl; you can get generic for a lot less than that. Also, if you go to the manufacturer's website, there are often coupons. Your doctor might have samples he can give you to help defray the cost. Have you tried FISH?
Don't let this go. It's not going to help your family if you're unable to work.
I just double checked and need to correct something, at diagnosis my tsh was 104.72. Not sure why I thought it was 192???
