Thanks for the help
just wanted to clear up a point: i know autoimmune hypo is acommonly interchangeable term with hashimitos and that in some countries it is referred to most commonly as hashimotos. But, here there is a distinction made between the two
got this from bupa's site
"A condition known as Hashimoto's thyroiditis is associated with autoimmune hypothyroidism. It results in a goitre, a swelling of the thyroid gland, that is visible as a lump on the neck. With no goitre the condition may be called atrophic thyroiditis or primary myxoedema."
I have not seen anyone mention if they have tried any homeopathic treatment. A lady I know was fed up with all the ups and downs and all the side effects of the years of testing and tablets and went to see a homeopath. They redid her blood tests for $100 aussie dollars and put her on some of their medication and she is now feeling wonderful. She said she felt that is because she is not suffering any side effects and her results after 3 months have improved out of site. She said that she is on the road to recovery not just waiting around for her hypothyriod to completely drop off the richter scale which could possible mean an operation and a lifetime of tablets.
I have been taking synthoid for 6 months and still feel really bad. I am looking at switching fto amour or to add synthetic t3 cytomel
good luck
Hi again!
My TSH at the start of treatment was 5.9 but it was down to .28 about a month and a half ago. I still don't feel very good but I think I have some other issues I need addressed. I just found out recently that I have PCOS and have had it for a very long time. Anyway, like the post before mine says, you don't have to have a goiter to have Hashimotos. Let me know if you have more questions.

The symptoms take time to develop, and they take time to go away.
A TSH of 6.0 is better than 15.5, but it's not good enough to make you start feeling well again. You are still in the "I am getting sick" mode.
You should be feeling better soon, but feeling well could be some time off. Your TSH needs to get closer to 1.0 and stay there before you start healing.
It may be that Levothyroxin is not your cup of tea. Perhaps Synthroid would be worth a try.
One correction. If you have Hashimoto's anti-bodies, and your TSH is 6.0 or higher, you have Hashimoto's. A goiter is not required.
Auto-immune Hypothyroidism is Hashimoto's.
i have been on and off synthroid a few times, it either throw me off to a hyper, or i remainded as hypo. this time, i have been on the meds for about 4 weeks, most of the time i felt pretty good but starting from yesterday, I felt like a dead body again.
I am afraid as a hashimotos, this is a life-long struggle.good luck for you
it's autoimmune hypothyroidism but not hashimotos because i have no swelling/ goitre
what is your TSH? mine is at 6
I can relate. I have been on meds for three months and still don't feel well. My TSH looks great but tell that to my body. Do you have Hashimotos? I believe when your thyroid problem is autoimmune in nature this can cause other things to be off. Hope this helps.
