Unfortunately, your doctor isn't testing for the most important of the thyroid hormones, which is Free T3.

With the high TSI, I can't argue with the fact that you have Graves Disease.

What symptoms are you having?  Why does your doctor say you can't play sports?  Have you been put on any anti-thyroid medication? If so, what?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I'm trying to get a better picture of the situation.

Sorry, Graves Disease is an autoimmune disease that is life long, though there are treatments for it that can allow you to live a normal life.

What symptoms prompted you to get tested for thyroid issues?  What tests were done to diagnose Graves?

There's no reason that, once properly treated, you shouldn't be able to play sports again..

Please post blood test results for any thyroid tests that were done; please include reference ranges from your lab reports, because ranges vary lab to lab and must come from your report..

It seems that your doctor might be something of a reactionist/extremist, but without more info, I can't say for sure......

One thing I can say is that many people with Graves get proper treatment for their particular situation and go on to do whatever they want in life... While Graves Disease is an autoimmune that isn't "curable", it's also  not a death sentence, and if you don't have debilitating symptoms, you shouldn't be prevented from "living"...... and while treatment might set you back a season, there's no reason to give up.......

Do you have heart issues because of Graves?

Please post whatever lab results you have, and be sure to include reference ranges, which vary lab to lab....  Include any tests for antibodies, etc......
