Hypo to Hyper

Has anyone else gone from Hypo to Hyperthyroidism? I spent a year happily being treating for Haishimotos and feeling good. Then went in for what I thought was a sinus infection only to discover I now have Graves diease. Been on suppressants for a year and I still feel lousy. Also developed TED which is awful!  I am thinking of getting my thyroid removed. Any thoughts?

2 years ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroid disease because my TSH was 10.3.  Three months later my TSH was .03 on a low dose of Synthroid.  The Synthroid was titrated down over 3 months and then discontinued because my TSH continued to stay at .03.  Nine months later my TSH was still .03 and I was diagnosed with Graves disease.  I was put on Methimazole and was on it for 5 months and my TSH went up to 9.2 not to mention gaining 20 more pounds.   As of 2 weeks ago my TSH is back down to 0.14 and I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease (again) and not Grave's disease any longer.

At this point in time I am NOT on any medication!  I am still gaining weight, my hair is still falling out, my skin is still dry, I am still moody, and I am still exhausted.  I have heart palpitations and my blood pressure is high (on medication).  I am so confused and frustrated right now it isn't even funny!!!!!!!!!

Also, 3 years ago I had sinus surgery because I had a sinus infection for a year with 5 courses of antibiotics and steroids with no success.  I have had only 1 sinus infection since that surgery.  I would love to have my thyroid out and start on Synthroid to regulate my system.  My endo won't go for it though.  I am looking for a second opinion.   Any advice from anyone on having a thyroidectomy would be greatly appreciated. :)

I am waiting to see if I am going to have surgery or RAI.

I have been been treated poorly for so long I do not think surgery is safe anymore for me.

I had an uptake scan today to see if RAI will even work.

I don't have a good recomendation for you.

IF you have Haashimoto's and Grave's both, you need to get rid of the gland somehow. The sooner the better.

RAI may make your TEDs worse.

Take all this with a grain of salt, because I am not thinking very clearly right now.

You probably have Hashimoto's Toxicosis.

I was on Methimazole and Synthroid at the same time for nine months.

My doctor says I have Hashimoto's and Grave's both. It is not seen often enough to be recognized by most doctors.

If you were diagnosed with Hashimoto's, you have Hashimoto's. It does not go away. It can turn into Hashimoto's with Grave's overlayed upon it, but it is extermely rare.

are you doing surgery or radio active idoine? I have read the iodine treatment may worsen my TED symptoms so am leaning toward the surgery.

I started out as hyper and now I am hypo. I also have a serious sinus infection. I have been given  3 different antibiotics and none help. My thryoid comes out next week. i hope that it cures all of these problems.
