Hypothyroid, weight gain, no periods, chest pain, etc

I have been diagnosed with hypothyroid within the last year, my grandma on my fathers side had it as well. I take 50mcg Synthroid. I was having the symptoms for about a year before anyone figured out why I was gaining so much weight quickly and felt so bad all the time.. I have gained a total of 80lbs and still going steady unfortunately...and I don't eat bad at all. I'm now up to 205lbs vs the 125lbs I was in April of 2007. My numbers at last months check were fine, but I'm still gaining weight. Lately I have been nauseated constantly, like a sick feeling maybe too much acid in my stomach, its only if I have to get up in the morning and it goes away after I take a nap. I have pain in my chest as well, it starts in my chest near my sternum and radiates to my back shoulder and feels like I have something stuck in my throat that I cant swallow. Usually my jaw hurts along with it and the pain comes on randomly and has been going on before I even started taking Synthroid. Now my periods have stopped, and I'm not pregnant, my Gynecologist already tested me.I'm also getting acne which I never get zits and I have 4 right now. Its been 4 months since I have gotten my period, my Gynecologist it seems is the only doctor willing to help, she had some blood work done to check my hormones I (no results yet) and then she wants to do an ultrasound on my ovaries. She also is having me write down everything I eat because she does not believe me that I am not overeating. I even went so far as to bring in a diagram and a list of my symptoms, dates and times I get the pain and I give it to the doctors and they act like they can help then say its in my head, I have had and EDG and everything was normal, the GI doctor said I just have a lazy stomach and gave me some ashaphex. I've had an ultrasound done on my upper right quad to check my gull bladder and I had a 3mm polyp that the doctor said is nothing to be concerned about. I have had probably every blood test imaginable over the last year. I've also been on medication for panic attacks and I still had the pain in my chest. Does anyone know what the pain is and why my periods have stopped? Or have any ideas or similar situations?

I have been all over the web looking for answers on these situations I'm going through, I've even gone to the Mayo Clinic here and looked at medical books in the library they have. I have found nothing, but people with similar situations just as confused and frustrated as I.

I don't know what my thyroid numbers are unfortunately, I never thought of asking for them untill I started reading people's posts on here. Usually I just go in and the doc says good or bad. My next test I am for sure going to ask for them. Which should be soon.
I have been on Prevacid, it didn't work, then they had me take Metoclopramide 10mg that gave me diarrhea and made me tired all the time so I got taken off that and they put me on Aciphex.20mg I've been on that almost a month now, and its working on the nausea in the mornings, but does nothing for the pains in my chest/throat/jaw/back areas. I really don't even know why they are putting me on medication...I think they don't know whats going on so they are just trying out different drugs on me.
I don't really get hungry much, I drink a lot of water and green tea. I actually don't eat much at all, I just haven't been hungry and since I have been writing everything down and counting my calories I can see eat 1200 or under per day and its not a lot of fat cal, I've been watching that. I have had an EGD, My stomach all the way up to my throat is fine.
I have noticed that I've been breaking out in acne and have wild hairs growing in places.... Its really embarrassing. My boyfriend just pointed a wild hair out so I yelled at him and called him a jerk...I kinda feel bad, but I don't need him pointing stuff out, I can see it myself. So I've been plucking and waxing like a mad woman.

I am looking into some relevant articles about this matter.
I will summarize what I found as some stuff seems to be over generalized.
In addition to sharing the experiences and providing support to each other, the new patients need to educate themself about the disease to avoid unnecessary physical and moral suffering.

At age 23 this is very upsetting to hear that you have no answers .. I am glad you posted.  Maybe others on the board may have some more insight to share .... what were your hypo #'s ?  Did they try something like Prevacid at all ?  If acid reflux that may help things ... do you get awful hunger pangs at all ?  My daughter had an ulcer and would eat because she thought she was hungry and at first they said "in her head but see a GI to make you feel better" and the GI said NOT IN HER HEAD and she was eating and gaining weight bcz of the ulcer which created hunger pangs!!!!!  After 3 mos on Prevacid she was healed and stopped gaining .. about 5lbs a month!!!!

One other really quick ? is that the gallbladder can dysfunction and appear normal on ultrasounds, bloodwork, etc.  There is a high level test that will determine if it is dysfunctioning called a HIDA Scan ... I would see another GI perhaps for a 2nd opinion and bring up these thoughts if all else doesn't lead to thyroid ??
