Hypothyroid/Heart skipping beats

I have been taking medication (synthroid) for an underactive thyroid for 8 years. In the last 2 years my dosage has been increased several times I am now taking 137mcg.In November last year I started feeling like my heart was skipping a beat from time to time. I saw a cardiologist but he said it was within an acceptable limit. My synthroid was increased to 150mcg in February but the heart skipping got much worse and I had other symptoms so my doctor reduced it to 137 again. This week I went back to my cardiologist for a follow up and he said since I was still having the "skipping" episodes he was putting me on a beta blocker. It's the lowest dos possible but I am very reluctant to start taking it. The skipping is annoying but I can live with it.Has any one else had the same thing happen to them? I am worried that if I start taking beta blockers I am going to be stuck with them for the rest of my life

Have you been checked for Hashitoxosis, by antibody testing.  It can cause his, have you had an echostress? When I moved from .88 to 137 my heart would beat hard and skip. Heart tests were ok, but antibodies weren't. I took my first dose of Beta Blocker a week ago, I think the anxiety of taking it was worse than the pill. (lowest dose 10mg Corgard). My chest feels a bit heavy about an hour after I take it, but I'm not sure if it isn't just anxiety, it has helped keep my heart rate slower, more even and has helped with the tremors. I'm having RAI May 10th, and hope to be off them after that.

Thank you for your comments. I have not been tested for Hashitoxosis but I will make sure I get tested soon.
