Hypothyroid count?

Hi, I am in high school, I recently got a blood test done, and it said that I have hypothyroidism, My mom told me it was really low, I recently went to the doctors for my cold, and apparently low means bad, My count is at 52.2 what is this t3? t4? what? They don't actually give a good description, and what does this mean? Could you die from this? I just want to make sure, thank you! give me all the information on this count, I am having a doctors apt soon.

The hard part with Hypothyroid is that it takes awhile to feel better, so be sure and stay with the script they gave you.

The test they probably did with a result of 52.2 was probably TSH, and it's high, not low.  High TSH means you have low thyroid hormone levels... sounds crazy, huh?  TSH stands for Thyroid Stimulating Hormone and it's a pituitary hormone that stimulates the thyroid to make thyroid hormones, T4 and T3.  When the thyroid doesn't make those hormones, the pituitary keeps cranking out TSH in an effort to get the thyroid to make the hormones, which is why the TSH keeps going higher as thyroid hormones go lower.

There are a lot of different dosages of levothyroxine pills, so we'd have to know what dosage they are - the 90 pills just means that script will last you for 90 days; it doesn't tell us the dosage.

No, you aren't going to die from this, as long as you're getting treatment, but don't stop taking your medication, or you will get very ill.

And the medicine I am taking is Levothyroxine, with 90 pills.
