I am a 27 year old femaleCondoms Female condoms Female sexual dysfunction, and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at age 14. I was on Synthroid from age 14 to about age 25, but still felt tired and fatigued although my TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh level was in range on 150 mcg of Synthorid. I decided to see an endrocrinologist who put me on the 180 mg of ArmourArmour thyroid Thyroid. I felt much better, although my TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh dropped to less than .01. My doctor continued to reduce the dose of ArmourArmour thyroid, and I discovered I was pregnant while on 100 mg of Armour. My doctor decided to switch me back to Synthroid once learning about my pregnancy; the dose was 100mcg Mon-Sat, and 50mg on Sun. Within three weeks my TSH rose to 1.03, and then within the next three weeks my TSH rose to 5. My doctor then upped the dose to 112 mcg, and three weeks later my TSH rose to 7.6, T4 Free was 1.1. I am now 20 weeks, and my doctor upped the dose once again to 137 mcg; however, I feel he is not treating this aggressively enough. I have argued with him that I feel I need to be on at least 150mcg, but he does not agree. Do you agree with his course of treatment? Also, what are the side effects of hypothyroidism and a high TSH on pregnancy? My doctor continues to assure me that a free T4 of 1.1 is a good thing despite the high TSH. I am scared and worried about the health of my unborn child. Any information you have would be most appreciated.
