I don't know what to do

I had graves diease when I was 18, then had a radioactive tratment to shrink my thyroid gland. I am now 26. This past year has been a hard one for me. I continue to have outbursts of anger. Extream mood swings. Everytime I am about to start my period I feel as though  I am loosing my mind. I feel Crazy. As though I have PMDD or worse. My Dr. continues to take my blood to check my levels then always tells me I am fine and leaves it at that. But I don't feel fine at all. I feel as though I am crazy.

I was on Loestrin, birth control, for about five years. Then my birth control was switched to the generic atthe beginning of last year. That's when I started to feel I was going crazy. So, not being able to get Loestrine, I came off of it all together.

I am at a loss as to what I am to do now. Are there other tests that she's missing. Please help before I loose my mind.

Thank you

I feel like im losing my mind when I got my period this time! My dr suggested lo loestrin fe. Im afraid to take it people say it causes anxiety and I already have anxiety. Ive heard lo loestrin has bad side effects. I heard acupuncture works great. Any success with lo loestrin fe?

Two things that you might want to discuss with your doctor.

First of all, thyroid hormone affects estrogen and vice a versa.  Controlling your estrogen levels (or the lack there of this last year) is critical for thyroid patients.  Since going off the estrogen/progesterone was the point where you started feeling like you were going crazy please talk to your doctor about an alternative.  Maybe the shots??

Second thing, many of us thyroid patients also suffer from mood disorders (imbalance of hormones creates an imbalance of brain chemicals - hence affecting depression, bipolar, etc.) many of us are on antidepressants.  Might be a consideration for you too.

I'm sorry for all you have been going through but you don't have to suffer with this.  If your doctor isn't listening to you get another one!   Most of us have fired a doctor or two along our journeys.
