I got crazy notes starting on me again.

I just got a call from the MD now. or should I say nurse - she says she is reading the report from the radiologist on the FNA Monday and it is no big deal. I tried to explain to her that more was said at the FNA then what is on the "final " report" I told her about the radiologist saying he is not comfortable doing this FNA b/c of his belief it is a parathyroid and "THAT IS WRITTEN IN THE REPORT" It is like she just totally avoided wanting to hear what he said to me totally!!!

She was very short and acting I was blowing this way out of text. I told here what he said ( if you can't recall.).. and the end of the FNA --- I was leaving............ the radiologist stopped me as I was walking out the door and said to MY face. "If you were my sister, this test would have not been done!"  Get your calcium level checked.

She interrupted when I said that and said well it is normal. _ yeah it's normal but I have read it still can be a parathyroid malfunction -- right?

Now I feel like -- for sure I have ruined a relationship with this MD and I AM scared to lose him. He has been great. Maybe I am reading to much - but she did asked if I have a follow up with him - I said yes on April 10. She said good and well see you then - ANd she sent the referral off to another endo - even through the radiologist already secured me an appt this Friday with someone he knew. This radiologist has called me 3 times b/c of his concern that if it is a parathyroid - i could be in some harm if it is not looked at by an endo soon.

Am i just being sensitive - or do I sound crazy?

Thanks -  it stinks though knowing what is going on and getting someone to listen. I should of listen to my grandmom and been a nurse. THEN - i'd have a leg to stand on.

You missed a thread a while back when I went to my MD for a lung infection. The nurse  was recently Dx'd with hyperthyroid and TED. I had to totally walk her through everything - even her blood tests (she had them in her smock and just got the results!)

It was so backwards and after SHE left with HER notes from OUR visit, my husband looked at me and said "unbelieveable". Kind of a joke when you think about it. I should send a bill to that office. LOL

As you know I'm new and reading everything I can here and just seen your post. I just wanted to say that you're right about the nurses, speaking as one myself and having experienced both sides of being a patient and nurse, I absolutely loathe being a patient. You are right in that a lot of nurses do have a deluded sense of grandeur! It's because they want to think they're really important. They do it to me too here in the UK until I throw all their medical jargon back at them and it throws them for a bit, but then they come back harder. They hate it that I know as much as them and it's even worse sometimes so I wish I hadn't told them. I wanted to repay your kindness by saying call their bluff! Keep on standing up to them. Bullies always hate it when when you get one over on them. And anyway as far as I'm concerned, I'm a nurse, but you certainly know more than me when it comes down to all this stuff! So go get em!

The wait and see approach .. don't you just "love" it .... when I orig. went for my nodules to an ENT he said he would "wait and see" and when I asked what happened to those who waited to see and had cancer and his response was this:  "Well, it does come with regret".   I wrote him off also bcz he charged $30 out of pocket FEE for pre-cert services and insisted I come back again to further discuss surgery if I so decided and walked me out of the office!!!!!  All the others did it one stop shopping AND the other ENT did a throat scope thru the nose to ascertain no compression!  Same degree; diff. doc .. so I waited 9 weeks for the good guy and the rest is history in my favor!

I think the doctor has a slight sense that I maybe a bit over anxious too. So I think he would be on his nurse's side.

A couple of visits he made comments on I need to relax a bit. and our last visit was more conversation on our doctor/patient relationship then medical. He knows I totally appreciate his help with the meds - but we disagree totally on the nodule/parathyroid thing. His idea is a wait and see approach - while I am sick of feeling  sick and want answers now.  My calcium test of 9.3 didn't help much either to support my checking into this farther either. If it would of been in the 10's ..... maybe that would of pushed him along.

On the other hand that ENT who ordered the FNA - i assume he is sweating a bit. Still hasn't made contact with me on any findings of the attempt. You know the FNA report reads patients refused additional testing after 45 minutes of attempts. We'll i think he may be thinking i refused to go further so I can't help her. I am sorry - but when you are lying there getting stabbed 9 to 10 times in the neck where you have bruising one whole week from your adam's apple to your left collar bone - I 'd like to know how much any other individual would of with standed that!  (on a nova-cane injection)

Constantly a battle field for me - since all this started years ago - I am so tired of it totally.

My book after all this is over - will be packed full of my "crazy notes" saga.

Stella, talk to your doctor about his nurse.  I'm sure if he gets enough complaints he will get rid of her.  Remember only squeaky wheels get oiled.  If something bothers me I tell them up front.  I've lived in my body long enough to be very familiar as to how how it works.  If something is wrong I want it fixed. Do I need to run those doctors through what we used to call the "Car Man attitude adjustment program"? I'm not as young as I used to be, but if he caught me on a bad thyroid day, the results could be the same.

Just let me know!

I'm taking 2400mg of calcium with 800 IU of Vitamin D (i.e., 4 high potency tablets) each night.  My calcium levels are good but my bones continue to demineralized (hence Boniva to the rescue)

Glad the tumor was benign!!!   Thank heaven for small miracles, eh??  :-)

There was indeed a benign tumor on the inside wall.  The gallbladder out now and I feel great!  Luckily nothing spread.  Thanks for asking.

Can I ask?  How much calcium + vit d do you take?

Wow - I think we've been to some of the same "medical" facilities.  :-(

So, what's up with your gallbladder now?

I agree with above, at least your next appt is with the dr you get a good feeling about.  That’s also the one who’ll know and decide where you need to go from here.  If he needs to have you continue on these issues, he’ll take over your case and let the MD know.  A follow-up with the MD won’t be necessary.  That’s what happened with me.  Even if you don’t need further care, the endo will probably want to check you periodically so you’ll end up under his care no matter what.  When the endo sends the reports to the MD, it'll speak for itself that you found a dr you prefer.

I’ve experience all kinds of what you describe.  While I have respect for all medical personnel, when they go off it seems to stick out.  After a while you have to laugh.  My latest favorites:  The dr called and told me to come to his office because he saw abnormalities on my gallbladder and suspected a tumor.  There, the nurse, with hands on hips, said “So, why are you here?”  Thinking maybe I misheard the dr, I said what was going on.  With that she opened my file to the first page, read the dr’s notes and said, “oh.”  Another time a clerk at the lab refused to register me because she said it was too close to closing time on a Friday afternoon – it was about 50 mins before closing time.  If I did that at my job, I’d be fired!

Hang in there, honey, you're doing great!  Don't let these drs try to use this disease to further confuse you.  Seems when they know you are having cognitive problems from thyroid he// they would be nicer to us, but it doesn't seem to work that way.

If they don't treat you right there will be an angry mob of tinfoil-hat wearing chickens after them!!!   We'll send Utah in first!  Those teeth of her ought to scare the wits out of them!  LOL

You are not crazy. That nurse is a twit.  She's upset that she's not regarded in as high esteem as the doctor - because she obviously thinks she knows more than the doctor! - and I bet her nose is out of joint that the radiologist is on your side, too.

You know yourself the best, not them, so keep the faith - you are doing the right thing!

The bright side:  you can now see 2 endos and compare notes, as AR said.  =)

You are armed already with the support of the Doc who got you the appt with this great Endo on Friday so don't worry; you won't have to convince him of anything bcz the cards are layed out on the table already and it is up to him to slice the deck and see what end is up... you'll do fine!

The crazy notes ..... we have been there so do know how you feel .... happened to me just last week with orthodontist for daughter.  The Ortho told her to come back for retainer adjustement when it gets loose in a few weeks and the stupid recep. said NO WAY she is to come in 6 mos for appt and not a few weeks she must have misunderstood. Well, she ended up going for appt anyway bcz she stepped on retainer and the Doc said good she came in bcz now that the gum swelling went down it was time for her few-weeks' adjustment!!!!!!  The recep knew nothing of this isolated case dealing with gum swelling and she never should have waited 6 mos like the idiot said.

One thing that has always worked for me:  TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS; they have never, ever let me down.

I used to feel like I could be a politician with my dialog - now when I try to explain how I feel - I can;t seem to get it out there in a understandable way. I think that is why I am so
nervous for the endo appt Friday

Talk to your doctor (not the nurse) next time you are there and tell him exactly how you feel about the way his nurse is treating you.

Hey - a little secret here - *all* of us thyroid patients have had the "crazy" notes once or twice.  Wear it as a badge of honor!  :-)

Hang in there my crazy chicken buddy!

Tell those crazy notes to go away and leave you alone!  ;-}  Couldn't resist.

You hang in there and tell that dingbat nurse to leave ya alone if she's gonna be brain dead!  Maybe she needs to have her thyroid checked.  I think your dr must share the same nurse my ex-endo used.  Think DUH! means anything to them?  Me either.

I am not dealing witht he same form of diagnosis, but I myself am dealing with my NeuroSurgeon's nurse staff. On jan 31 my radiologist called my Neuro in to review my MRI brain scan which revealed a Pituitary tumor. i was then sent to my NS who soooo many ppl told me was "THE BEST". he may be the best w/ back surgery, but i don't think for this situation. i had my labs taken on Feb 9 and as of March 7 FINALLY got a call from my doc's nurse stating they have been "really busy" and my labs are "ok" and that my doctor did find a microadenoma  but i'll get a phone call in five months to schedule a follow-up MRI. WHAT??? i hav eno idea size, location NOTHING. luckily i requested my results. this was just icing on the cake bc i had to call 3 x's to get someone to call me back in regards to my results. She called last monday and stated "we just got your labs in & Dr.  will call on THur" ---- well, guess what, no phone call. so i call on thur, no response. finally friday again i call and demanded my results. upon that the receptionist said "oh yea, i think we just got your last labs today" once again i called him out and said "thats not what the nurse told me monday". She finally calls at 8pm on a friday night with what i stated before. not even a 2 min conversation. i am so frustrated!!!!!! i am changing doctors and getting a second opinion. luckily i requested my lab results so i have SOME numbers to look at!

How could it be "no big deal" if he couldn't even get a sample?

If he can't stick it, it's not there? Is that her thought peocess?

Your only problem with the unconcerned nurse is the fact that she is the go-beween for you and your MD. She could be telling him anything, and he could be making judgements based on her bias.

I have the same problem with my Endo's nurse. She tells me the wrong thing every time she calls, and if I question it, I become the pain in the doctor's butt. It would be nice to have these telephone consults with the MD., not some nurse with more attitude than information.

You're not overly sensitive or crazy. You're getting the same treatment three fourths of us are. Treated by the nurse.

Makes me want to scream.

On the bright side, you have two opinions to compare if you keep both Endo appointments. :)
